Register your websites

Register your website once and add its install code, so announcements, live chat and web forms can show there.

Updated 28 October 2026 · 5 min read

Register each of your websites once, and add one small piece of code to it. That install code shows your announcements, and your live chat when it's on. Your embedded web forms load only on the website's domains.

Say you run a travel agency and want to show offers on your website and chat with visitors. Register the website, and Salesfresh gives you the install code. Your web developer adds it to the website once. After that, you show any offer, turn on live chat or add a form from Salesfresh, without asking the developer again. If you have two websites, register both, and pick which one shows each announcement.

Before you start

  • Permission: View Websites to see your websites. Register Websites to add one, Edit Websites to change one and Delete Websites to delete one.
  • Plan: Every plan. See Plans and limits.
  • Set up first: You need to be able to change your website's pages, or ask the person who does.

The Websites page

Go to Settings → Marketing → Websites. Each row shows the website's name and domains, whether its install code is working, its live chat, how many agents are available, and its chats and leads in the last 30 days.

Note

These screenshots use localhost:5000, a website we ran on our own computer for testing. For your website, add its real address, such as yourcompany.com. Testing on your own computer first? Add localhost with its port, such as localhost:3000.

The Install Code column says Working, with when the code last loaded, or Not seen yet. If the code loaded on a domain the website doesn't list, it says so. Add that domain, or live chat won't open there.

Select a website's name to open its page. See The website page. Live Chats and Announcements at the top take you to those pages.

Register a website

  1. Select Register a Site. The Register Site panel opens.
  2. Fill in the fields.
  3. Select Register Site. The panel shows the install code.
  4. Select Copy, then Done.

FieldWhat to enter
Site Name *A name to tell your websites apart, such as "Marketing site"
DescriptionWhat the website is for, such as "Our main product site, where most demo requests come from."
Domains *Each web address the website runs on, such as yourcompany.com. Type one and select Add. Add at least one

A domain matches with or without www., https:// or a page path, so yourcompany.com covers https://www.yourcompany.com/pricing. A port counts, so localhost:5000 is its own domain.

Add the install code to your website

Paste the install code on every page where announcements or live chat should show, just before the </body> tag. To find it later, select ⋮ on the website, then Install Code. It's also on the website's Overview tab.

The code has a place for the visitor's details:

window.SF_VISITOR = {
  email: "<lead-email>",
  leadId: "<lead-uuid>",
  phone: "<lead-phone-number>"
};
Warning

Don't leave the example values in. If you do, no announcements show at all. Either delete this part, or fill it in with the visitor's real details.

  • Delete it to show your announcements to every visitor. Visitors are then anonymous, so they only see announcements with no audience filters.
  • Fill it in for visitors who have signed in to your website. Salesfresh finds the matching lead or contact by lead ID, then email, then phone. It then shows the announcements meant for them, and records when they see, accept or close one. To record this, you need the email or lead ID. The live chat's start form is filled in with these details too.

You can also store the same details in the browser's local storage or session storage, under the name SF_VISITOR.

Change, copy or remove a website

Select ⋮ on a website:

  • Edit changes its name, description and domains.
  • Clone makes a copy called "Name (Copy)", with the same domains and a new install code. Its live chat isn't copied.
  • Install Code shows the code again.
  • Delete removes the website. Its install code stops working, and its live chat is turned off. Open chats can finish.

You can't delete a website while a published, paused or scheduled announcement picks it under Target Sites. Mark published or paused announcements complete. For a scheduled one, edit it and remove the website.
